Seniors beat Clonlara in Clare Cup

Sixmilebridge 1-22

Clonlara 0-12

Sixmilebridge travelled to Clonlara on Saturday 17th April to take on the Sean Stack managed Clonlara senior team. The Clonlara team were missing regulars Darach Honan, US bound Colm Galvin and Colm O' Donnovan. Clonlara opened with a point from Ian Galvin and held the 1 point lead until the 6th minute when the 'Bridge equalised with a Niall Gilligan pointed free. The 'Bridge held the lead from this point until the final whistle.

The half time score saw the 'Bridge lead 0-13 to  0-5 and the final score was 0-22 to 0-12. The 'bridge forwards did well on the day and Conor Deasy and Cathal Malone stood out for not only their scoring but also their workrate. Malone scored a wonderful point in the first half where by he forced a turnover and slotted over a long range shot, his work rate illustrating pride in the jersey. At the back Paudie Fitzpatrick excelled under puck outs and in setting up attacks. Good for Clonlara were John Conlon and Ian Galvin. The win meant the 'Bridge now have won 3 out 3 so far in their Clare Cup campaign. Next up is Newmarket in a repeat of the 2013 County Final.
