The U13A Championship season ended today with multiple finals across the county. After existing the A Championship following a heartbreaking 1 point defeat in the quarter final our boys qualified for the Shield Final after defeating Newmarket 2 weeks ago - This setup a Garneyside Derby against Cratloe this morning in Cratloe.
The first 30 minutes was very well contested with score matching score to see Cratloe lead 2-06 to 2-05 at the short whistle. Alex Russell on 11 minutes and Aaron Fitzpatrick on 13 minutes rose green flags while Rhys Tuohy, Matthew Murphy, Michael Gilligan, Jack Willis and Russell scored our points.
The home side were quickest off the blocks and hit us for 2-08 in 15 minutes with a single Murphy point being our only answer.
Following a few positional changes the Bridge boys rallied and hit 2-02 without reply to reduce it to 6 points with goals from Cian Flannery and Matthew Murphy and points from Murphy and Russell. However Cratloe finished with a flourish hitting 1-1 in the dying seconds to run out winners following a very sporting game played at a very high standard.
Hard luck to our boys who put in a super effort all year with lots of ups and downs along the way and lots of learnings also. Huge potential in this team and we say a big thanks to Seán Lynch, Luke O'Halloran, Billy Maxwell, Mikey Russell, Ian Chaplin, Declan Murphy, Gerry O'Halloran, Colm Flynn for coaching the boys and to Catriona Lynch (First Aid) and Carol Twomey who helped out on match days.

We wish all the boys who recently finished primary school all the best as they head to secondary school in September - While they are going in different directions during the day we look forward to seeing them all come back in the same direction to the field to meet up and continue to train and play together.

While the result didn't go our way today the infamous Ice Cream at our club sponsor O'Flynns Centra always helps to put a smile back on the face..
