There has always been a belief in the club that the 'Bridge do their best hurling when they get out of Clare and this nugget of hope was drilled into the team of 2000. The Munster club that year had all the big guns including Mount Sion, Patrickswell and Toomevara - indeed all clubs we had faced in our previous 8 ventures into Munster so we knew what was required. The day we played the 'Well the game was on in the Gaelic Grounds and to say their was a calm about the place was an understatement. With the big crowd expected in Limerick for the game the team arrived fierce early so a few of the younger brigade headed to the Arcades at Supermacs on the Ennis Road to play a few games of pool - to say Redders was calm was an understatement as he wiped the tables with all oncomers. Looking at this we knew he was on for a big game but few could have expected what was to unfold as he lined up man to man with Limerick Legent Ciaran Carey ...5 points from play and an outstanding performance from John O'Connell at Full back.
