U6 Parent & Player Night Report
13th March 2018 might not be a date our young hurlers remember but what they did on this date is something they will never forget as many of them went training with the Bridge for the very first time.
The club are again running their Adult & Player sessions with the simple aim of introducing young players and their parents to hurling and ensuring the basics of our great game can be practiced at home. It was hugely encouraging to see the enthusiasm from parents to help out and get involved and this is really important given the large numbers of players in the Bridge Bucks academy.
Last night saw up on 45 boys under the coaching eye of Seàn Chaplin learn the basics around:
- Ready Position & Correct Grip
- Simple Snap & Catch skills with an emphasis on the return throw for kids to mimic the handpass motion.
- Dribbling skills (Ball on ground weaving in and out)
- Balance Skills (Meandering around the hall with bean bag balanced on hurley)
The sessions continue on Tuesday 20th March and 27th of March at 7PM and is open to our U6 boys born in 2012 & 2013. The session is on in the hall at O'Garney Park and all you need is a Hurley, Helmet and Runners. The club presented a new sliotar to every player in attendance so they can practice at home but please remember to bring it to training with you also next week.
