Our Intermediates were in action on Sunday last in Bodyke in the 1st round of the Premier intermediate championship where they faced Whitegate.

A good game overall, the Bridge went to the half time break leading 2-8 to 0-9. Ronan Tuohy had provided both goals in the half and Derek Fahy had also contributed a couple of points, one from play, from huge distance and he finished with 3 points. Dara Casey scored an excellent point after doing the hard work and winning the ball into the forwards before manouvering and shooting from the wing. Mark Mullins also scored a nice point having soled up from his wing back position.

In the second half the Bridge found themselves 6 points to the good with 15 minutes to go. Calum Phelan had scored a wonder goal having soloed in from the wing beating a couple of defenders before shooting to the back of the net. However Whitegate fought back and with the aid of an Eoghan Quirke goal and another from a 20m free from Conor Whelan they were able to overturn the Bridge lead and eventually won out by 2 points.

Derek Fahy in goals did well contributing 3 points from play whilst Jack O'Halloran (village) did an excellent man marking job on Whitegates talisman Conor Whelan, Caimin Morey in a sweeping role played excellently supplying great ball to the forwards. Ronan Tuohy in the forwards always looked dangerous when on the ball whilst Lynch, Phelan and Casey made good contributions also.

A tough grade it will be Parteen Meelick next which is fixed for Shannon at 7pm on Friday the 7th of August.
