Secondary School Campaign Moves to the Next Stage as Support Tops 600 Signatures
The campaign for a secondary school in the Sixmilebridge area has made significant progress in recent weeks. Following the achievement of 500 signatures, the petition was submitted to Clare County Councillors and local TDs, generating a very positive response and strong political support for the initiative.
Since then, the campaign has continued to gather momentum. We have now been invited to present our case before a special Oireachtas Committee in October, while local TDs have also raised the issue directly with the Minister. These are important developments and demonstrate that the growing voice of our community is being heard at national level.
We're also delighted to share that the campaign has now surpassed 600 signatures. A huge thank you to everyone who has signed, shared and supported the petition so far.
We are fortunate to have supportive TDs advocating for our community, along with dedicated local representatives working tirelessly on this issue. A special word of thanks to Councillor John Crowe, who has been a consistent and passionate supporter of this objective over the past number of years.
While these developments are extremely encouraging, there is still work to do. Every additional signature strengthens our case, so we encourage everyone to continue sharing the petition with family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Together, we can keep the momentum going and continue making the case for a secondary school that will serve our growing community for generations to come.

Sixmilebridge GAA are supporting the Community drive for a Secondary School in Sixmilebridge -
Sixmilebridge has the largest growing population base in Co. Clare and students finishing primary school face uncertainty about their education, applying to over-subscribed secondary schools in Shannon and Limerick. We need somewhere for our children to continue their education, locally.
Conversation about a school for Sixmilebridge has gone on for too long. We need action on it now.

The Clare County Development Plan does not include a secondary school as an objective for Sixmilebridge, categorising it as a longer term need. Sixmilebridge National School is one of the largest in Clare and given the current exceptional growth of the town, with hundreds of new houses being built, its time to start a new conversation about our need for a school.
Planning and building a school takes time. We can't delay action on this any longer.
