This championship opener was a repeat of last years Junior C quarter final where the Tubber men emerged victorius last year and despite a valiant fight by the Bridgemen unfortunatley it was the same result this year.

 A blisteing start for Tubber saw them race into the lead with early goals, however the Bridge made their way back into the game with some fine lomg range free taking from Tommy Liddy including a goal from a free also. Danny Scullion added a nice point from play as well as a couple from play also by Liddy. The half time score saw the Tubber men ahead at 3-6 to 1-6.

The second half saw more goals on both sides, 2 for Tubber including a penalty and 2 for the Bridge, a scrambled effort to the net by Jack McCloskey and another from a free by Liddy. The Bridge maintained their steady comeback and at the final whistle were dissapointed to have been determined to have lost by a point on a final scoreline of 3-13 to 5-8.

Depsite a slow start the Bridge really made their way into this game and mainly through Liddys scoring from play and placed balls and were almost able to snatch a draw. A step closer to the Tubber men, it was an entertaining, tough match and these teams may come across each other later in the year again.

Good on the day for the Bridge were Tommy Liddy, Brian O'Loughlin, Mark O'Donovan & Paddy Lynch. 

Brendan O'Callaghan managed the team on the day aided by Gerry Liddane, Tom Keogh, Stiofan Fitzpatrick and Ed Skehan, the team being prepared earlier  in the year by John Fahy.
