On Saturday we welcomed Fingallians GAA club to Sixmilebridge -
The Bridge and the Fins who are based in swords have always had a close affiliation with two of our hurling gaels namely Dermot Murphy (Cappa) and Derek Corbett (Woodview Heights) having rowed in with Fingallians when they settled in Dublin.
A few months ago Derek whos Dad John has his second home in O'Garney Park where he oversees so much of the clubs activities and maintenance contacted us for an U15 game - the wheels were then set in motion to provide a Bridge welcome to the boys from the big smoke.
The Dubs departed the capital early Saturday morning before landing at the Hurlers Cross for a game of Foot Golf to loosen out. This was followed by a trip to our Indoor Arena for what they though was a puck around until guest coach Davy Fitzgerald arrived in the door and put them through their paces. Following this they had a Q&A session and Fitzy gave them some great hurling advice -
This was followed by a trip across the road to O'Garney Park where they played a Bridge U15 selection in a very sporting game.
Thanks to Derek and the Fingallian boys for the visit, to Kieran for refereeing and to Davy for taking the boys for a training session. We look forward to the next meet up!
