In a very well contested encounter at O'Callaghan Mills last Friday, the Bridge Junior B2 team and Broadford played out a thrilling 2-13  to 1-16 draw in the Junior B Premier Championship. The match was a high-scoring affair, reflecting the attacking intent of both teams, and the final whistle left both sides contemplating a share of the spoils. 

The Bridge playing with the breeze started brightly, Gary O'Callaghan registering the opening score after 30 seconds. Broadford responded quickly, levelling the game before a flurry of scores from Danny Morey (2), Alex Frost (2) and another from Gary saw the Bridge gain an early foothold going 0-6 to 0-1 up after 10 minutes. Broadford, however, showed resilience, chipping away at the lead with 5 unanswered points narrowing the gap significantly. The momentum swung back towards the Bridge with further points crucial points from Alex, Danny & Gary before the half time mark.

The Bridge started the second half strong with a goal from Alex Frost in the first minute. Broadford responded with 2 points while Alex Frost converted 2 frees to keep a 5 point lead. Between the 40th & 55th minute Broadford outscored the Bridge 1-4 to a 0-1 to take the a 1 point lead with 5 minutes remaining.  A well worked ball up the pitch saw Conor Flynn now at full forward, finish the ball to the net and give the Bridge a 2 point lead. Broadford continued piling on the pressure with a point in the 59th minute and with the last puck of the ball got a final point to share the spoils. 

The Bridge were under huge pressure in defence in the second half against the wind and fought hard throughout showing great character to get scorers to keep in touch. Strong performances from all across the pitch on the day with best performances on the by Gary O'Callaghan who was a workhorse at midfield and Alex Frost who kept the scoreboard ticking over with placed balls.  

With a bye in the 3rd Round the Junior B2 team are out next against Parteen on 12th September.
