The Under 10 season has really taken off in the last few weeks with the boys involved in games every weekend and midweek.

After hosting Ballina (Tipperary) in a blitz on 1st August, they have completed a tough series of 'home and away' blitzes against Newmarket-on-Fergus over the last 2 Tuesday evenings.  The squad also entered a team in a tournament hosted by Newtownshandrum on Aug 25th where they played opposition from Loughrea , Monaleen and Ballyhea (Cork) in the group stage.  After finishing 2nd in the Group they played in the 'Seconds Final' where they were defeated in a high scoring game by Athenry.  The tournament was a great experience for the boys (and coaches!) and they left Newtownshandrum with a lot of positives and also plenty things to work on.

In a bid to leave no stone unturned, the coaching team turned to Senior Bridge goalkeeper Derek Fahy to give the lads a training session on the finer points of the trade.  Many thanks to Derek for spending time with the lads - as we all know, goalkeeper is becoming one of the most important positions in hurling.

Last Saturday (Sept 01st) the team competed (and won!) in the Frank Maher tournament hosted by St Marys in Clonmel.  This is a tournament we have regularly attended and it attracts teams from many well known clubs around the country.  The boys opened their campaign with a very hard fought win against Erins Own and followed that up with victories over the host club and Carrick Swans.  They overcame St Marys again in the semi-final to set up a meeting against Sarsfields from Cork in the final.  The Sars team contained some serious hurlers but the Bridge boys prevailed with a great display of tackling, hooking and blocking.  The obligatory victory banquet was held in Supermacs on the way home!

Our final Go-Games blitz of the season takes place next weekend in Ennistymon, followed by tournaments in Ahane (15th Sep), James Stephens Kilkenny (22nd Sept) and Na Piarsaigh (29th Sept).

Our final night of training will be Friday Oct 19th and the coaches are planning something special to see out the season in style
