Sixmilebridge 3-20 Inagh-Kilnamona 0-6.

Last Thursday evening Sixmilebridge Under 16 A Shield team were in action when they took on Inagh-Kilnamona at O’Garney Park. Noel Flynn opened the scoring for the ‘Bridge 3 minutes in with a point before Shane Woods cancelled this out a minute later with one for Inagh-Kilnamona. Again Flynn responded with a blistering run to put the ‘Bridge ahead 6 minutes in with a lovely point and from there Sixmilebridge would lead for the rest of the game. They outscored their opponents 2-10 to 0-2 points as the ‘Bridge backline totally dominated breaking down Inagh-Kilnamona attacks while Dara Casey and Noel Flynn were the start of a rampant attack with Eoin Morby and Conor Murphy scoring two cracking goals in the 7th and 32nd minutes. Morby being set up by a lovely Evan O’Callaghan hand pass and Seamus O’Connell hitting a brilliant pass to put Murphy through. Points by Evan O’Callaghan, Seamus O’Connell, Noel Flynn, Eoin Morby, and Conor Murphy contributed to the commanding lead the ‘Bridge enjoyed at halftime 2-12 to 0-3, with Shane Woods and James Cullinane scoring two for Inagh-Kilnamona.
Darragh Fitzgerald replaced Cian Gleeson in goals and Jack Hughes replaced Scott Kirkland with Gary O’Callaghan coming on for Seamus O’Connell. Three minutes in and the ‘Bridge were awarded a free 45 metres out and Noel Flynn hit a high ball down on the Inagh-Kilnamona goal taking an awkward bounce catching everyone off guard landed in the back of the net. The second half continued in the same vein as the first with the ‘Bridge on top throughout against a very young Inagh-Kilnamona side who kept on battling throughout. Jack Lyons for Inagh-Kilnamona scored three cracking points all from play but the ‘Bridge just had too much strength in key positions and ran out winners on a score line of 3-20 to 0-6.
For Inagh-Kilnamona, Jack Lyons was excellent getting all their scores in the second half. Shane Woods and Mark Callinan were also very impressive.
For Sixmilebridge, Noel Flynn was very dangerous throughout making several runs at the Inagh-Kilnamona goal. Eoin Morby, Adam O’Sullivan, and Adam Murray were also rock solid. The most encouraging part of this ‘Bridge display was their team work all over the field working together they accomplished far more than individual displays would ever have.
