Our u10 hurlers have completed a hectic September which started with a victory in a tournament in Clonmel (Sept 1st) and continued with a Go-Game Blitz in Ennistymon (Sept 8th), a blitz in Ahane (Sept 15th), a blitz v Doora Barefield (Sep 27th) and a tournament hosted by James Stephens Club in Kilkenny on Sept 30th.
The squad as always put in a massive effort in these games. The players (and coaches) were very excited to play in Kilkenny after the off-field dramas of last year (reminder: the team never made the 2017 tournament as the bus broke down on the Tipp\Offaly border) and came up against some very stiff competition from James Stephens, Athenry, Cuala and Sarsfields from Cork.
Many thanks to everyone at the Minor Club for facilitating this day out.
The final night of the season will be Friday October 19th and to finish the season in style the squad will play off in an in-house Munster League. The format will be as follows:
- The squad will be divided into 4 teams of 11 players (Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Tipperary - teams and captains are listed below)
- Each night we will play 2 rounds of games.
- Games are 20 minute long with no half times.
- Team earns 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw
- Ref decision is final on all matters - 5 minute Sin Bin in operation for dissent!!
The team on top at the end of the league will win eternal glory in Sixmilebridge (and there will also be a prize). There will also be a prize for the player who executes the most clean catches over the course of the tournament (ball has to have traveled at least 20 metres for the catch to count) and the most skillful player throughout the tournament (as agreed by the coaches).
The U10 coaches also conducted the second Skills Assessment of the season recently and a special prize will be given to the player who has showed the most improvement over the year.
O'Flynns Centra has kindly agreed to sponsor a set of tops for the squad which we hope to have available for the final night.
