Sixmilebridge U6s – End of Year Report & Winter Newsletter
Well done to all the mighty U6 ‘Bridge Bucks for their hard work and effort they put in throughout the year. They are now an integral part of Sixmilebridge Gaa Club and hopefully this is the start of a long journey for them as part of this club. They are now the future of the club. They have participated over 6 months at the club including 20 training sessions, 4 blitzes and 2 fun nights, well over 20 sessions in all.
The final night was a great success with over 80 players displaying their skills on the night. Gilly gave a great pep talk in the dressing room beforehand (video has gone viral, 3000 views on Youtbe!) and then the piper led the team around the field before the matches began, finally retiring to the hall for the medals and goodies.
For the Winter months we have prepared a schedule of skills targets to work towards and we have outlined the skills that the U6s have learned and need to maintain. The parents will be integral to ensuring that U6s skills levels are maintained and we would encourage them to practice as much as possible over the winter, even with a tennis ball inside, bouncing and catching but try and get out for a few pucks as much as possible!
Thank Yous
Thanks to our visitors on the night, Kilmaley U6s and their manager Diarmuid McMahon, he and the other coaches have obviously put great time into the U6s and they are in safe hands going forward and I’m sure there’ll be a few more battles between the ‘Bridge and Kilmaley in the years to come.
Thank you also in particular to a few people who helped out each week for the past 6 months, getting here early, setting up, sending out texts, doing the teas & coffees and helping out with the coaching etc.,Paul Fitzpatrick, Ultan Heffernan, Jimmy Corbett, Sarah Chaplin, Michelle Moran. There was loads more helpers, coaches, parents who helped out also with the coaching and taking teams at blitzes and thanks very much to all of you for that.
Thank you to our Medal Presenters on the night Seadna Morey, Shane Golden, Brian Corry, Jamie Shanahan and club captain Paidi Fitzpatrick. Thanks to our referees this year from the Senior team, U16s and U13s, we will be continuing our complimentary goodie bag per referee next year as it worked very well this year!
Thanks to local businessman Johnny Sullivan of JOS Clean Rooms who sponsored some treats for the U6s on their final night.
Thanks to the minor club committee Mike, Orla and Kieran who have been very helpful in the background. Also thanks to Grace, John and Frances who have been very helpful for bookings and ensuring facilities are right and Linda in the club shop for help in organising tops.
Finally a big thank you to ‘O Flynns Centra who sponsored the lovely tops the U6s will be wearing for the rest of the Winter!
See you all in 2018 at U6 and U8! Bridge Abu!
