Newly elected Sixmilebridge GAA club president John Corbett was present tonight to officially start the official operation transformation walk at O'Garney Park Sixmilebridge. This is a nationwide initiative where GAA grounds turn on their flood lights on Thursday nights for the local community to exercise and it was very encouraging to see in excess of 90 people young and not so young including lots of families taking an hour out to exercise together on a smooth surface in a very safe environment.
The walk will continue for the next 5 Thursday nights under the coordination of Bernie Conlon with some optional exercises thrown in for good measure.
According to Tim Crowe who heads up the Healthy Club wing of Sixmilebridge GAA "Exercise and fresh air is vital for everybody in all circles of life and it was great to see families switch off from the TV and phones for an hour and spend some time together. Sixmilebridge GAA is now much more than just a hurling club and we have lots happening in the coming months in the area of health both physical and mental and fitness."
