Congrats to Derek Fahy and Kieran Liddane on winning Munster medals with Zimmer last Thursday night and hard luck to the Bridge boys involved with Regeneron.

After four previous finals of hurt and heartbreak, Zimmer are finally Munster Inter-Firm Junior Hurling Champions.

This was a cracker of a game. Played with intensity and openness, it was exciting right down to the finish before a large vocal and excited crowd at O'Garney Park in Sixmilebridge.

Peter O'Sullivan put Regeneron in front with a good point after a strong run on 4 minutes. Aidan Lynch responded for Zimmer with a pointed free on 5 minutes. Lynch put Zimmer in front on 7 minutes with a great goal after cutting in along the end line and firing past Brian Murray. This was a lead that they would not relinquish for the rest of the match. Gerry Coote stretched the lead to 4 points on 10 minutes after good play from Daithi O'Connell created space for Coote who fired over a good point from the half forward line. Jamie Fitzgibbon made it a 5 point game on 12 minutes after a good run and shot over the bar. Paudie Green hit back for Regeneron with a pointed free on 14 minutes. Gerry Coote scored his second point of the match on 18 minutes after winning a Regeneron puckout and hitting a good score from center field. Daithi O'Connell put 6 points between the sides with a great score from out near the sideline on 20 minutes. Seadna Morey cut the lead to 5 points with a good score after winning the ball and striking well on the run under pressure from Mark O'Riordan. Green made it a 4 point game when splitting the posts with a well struck free into the wind on 24 minutes. Dermot Gannon put 5 points between the sides right on half time when converting a 65. Half time Zimmer 1-6 Regeneron 0-4

With the elements at their back for the second half Regeneron looked to be a strong position. Paudie Green reduced the lead to 4 points with a pointed free inside the first minute of the second half. Caimin Morey made it a 3 point game on 40 minutes after picking up the ball on the 21 and hitting a good score on the turn. Michael O'Shea responded for Zimmer with a good score on 42 minutes after linking up well with Thomas McNamara. Green scored another free for Regeneron on 44 minutes to put 3 between the sides again. Dermot Gannon stretched the lead to 4 points with a great score from out near the sideline on 46 minutes. Substitute Caimin Howard made it a 5 point lead with a great score from the half forward line on 48 minutes. Gannon scored another good point from play for Zimmer on 53 minutes and there was now 6 points between the sides. Regeneron threw everything at Zimmer in the closing stages to try and get back in the match. Caimin Morey reduced the lead with a good score from center field on 54 minutes. Gearoid Loughnane pulled another point back on 56 minutes. Caimin Morey made it a 3 point game on 58 minutes with a great score from a free on his own half back line. There was only 2 points between the sides on 59 minutes when Adrian Breen raced through on goal and fired over the bar. The pressure was now on Zimmer but Gannon replied with a pointed free on 60 minutes. Regeneron needed a goal and in the second minute of injury time a shot from Breen went narrowly wide. Regeneron won the puck out and Breen raced through again but was fouled just outside the 21. Goalkeeper Murray made the trip up the field and his well struck shot was brilliantly turned round the post by his opposite number Derek Fahy for a 65. The 65 was dropped in but there was no way Zimmer were letting this one slip from their grasp as O'Gorman cleared. The final whistle was then blown by referee Mike Meade and Zimmer celebrated an historic first ever Munster title.

After the game Munster Inter-Firm GAA Chairman Michael Mulcahy presented the Cup to the victorious Zimmer captain Daithi O'Connell who made a passionate speech which further emphasised what winning this title meant to his company.
