As part of the Feile Na nGael U14 Festival of Hurling at U14 every year, there is the Skills competition where the players in their final year at u14 get to compete and test their competency across a variety of Hurling's many skills and demands.

The Players are tested in areas like Ground Hurling, Jab lift and strike for a point, Ball control, Free Taking, Sideline cuts and the Long puck. There is a time element involved in a lot of these skills tests so the Players are fully tested versus their Peers.

So on Tuesday of this week the 2005 born lads from the U14 squad had an enjoyable morning testing their skills in some pleasant Spring sunshine at last.

The Minor Club would like to thank Martin Breen and Gerry Liddane from the U14 Management who were on hand to co-ordinate and supervise the event. Also on hand was Clare Senior Panelist and 'Bridge Senior Brian Corry who gave of his time to help out. Thanks also to Sean MacNamara and Luke O'Halloran from our Minor/U16 panels who helped supervise individual Skills tests and tot up the scores.

So when the scores were sorted we had Brendan Carey in 3rd, Darren Hurley in 2nd and in 1st place was Dara Fitzgerald who will go forward to represent Sixmilebridge in the County skills competition on April 27th. Congrats to Dara and we know he'll do us proud, and thanks also to all the 2005 born lads who turned up and were part of an enjoyable competition.
