U6s Back! Tue – Beginner Player & Child Night, Friday – U6 Training
The U6 Bridge ‘Bucks 2019 season journey begins next week with Player/Child night on Tuesday and Training on Friday.
Player & Child Night – Tuesday 7th May 630pm
This night is ideally suited to those children who are coming to hurling for the first time in the age group born 2015-2013. So those children that were with us last year at U6 and are still underage for U6 this year can wait until Friday 10th May next to arrive on for the first training session of the year.
U6 Training – Friday 10th May 600pm
The U6s will be springing back into action with Training on Friday week 10th May at O’ Garney Park.
The coaching team would encourage parents to help out at the various stations that will be set up on training nights. It is a well proven fact that the smaller the ratio between kids and coaches/parents the better to provide an environment where the kids can learn the skills of the game.
We look forward to meeting your kids and empowering them with the knowledge and skills that will help them progress as hurlers into the future but above all it's the beginning of new friendships, lots of fun and plenty of hurling!. We ask that parents attend the training sessions to help and encourage their kids as much as possible.
Membership
Membership for all U6 players costs €20 and can be paid on the night to Michelle, Elaine or Linda.
Programme for the Year
We will have some Challenges/Blitzes throughout the year and a big finale at the end of the season most likely in October weather permitting. Over the next 6 months each Friday evening that we as coaches will spend with the stars of the future they will be taught:
1. How to hold a hurley correctly
2. The hurley Ready position
3. The Lock grip
4. How to swing the hurley
5. The basic fundamental movement skills
6. Introduction to Agility, Balance & Co ordination

Finally to help coaches get to know your kids can you please write your son’s name on hurley’s & helmets and if possible put a sicker on the back of the kids helmet with names so we know who we are encouraging. See you all Friday 10th May at 6pm at O’ Garney Park and we would ask for all players to have hurley’s, boots, helmets and a drink so we can keep all the kids safe.
