Sixmilebridge 1-15 v 1-14 Feakle

Junior B League Round 4 @ Cappa Lodge

The buzzers kept up their current good form with a hard fought win over a dogged Feakle team this afternoon. This win leaves them on six points after four games with another game next week away to Clonlara.

Despite the 'Bridge getting off to a good start, it was the East Claremen who were 1-10 to 0-8 to the good at the short whistle. Feakle had their goal midway through the half as a fortuitous effort from distance took a deflection to nestle in the corner of the net.

The 'Bridge came out with all guns blazing in the second half and with Mikey O'Halloran unerring from placed balls along with a fine effort from Jake Dineen they started to claw back the lead to the minimum. The crucial score arrived next and this came about after Ronan Hayes laid off an excellent pass to the in rushing Cian Hogan who blasted to the net. Both teams traded scores from here to the finish with the 'Bridge leading by three with five minutes to go as Feakle clawed it back to a solitary point but the home side held on for a deserved win with sharpshooter O'Halloran top scoring with ten points.

Team manager Mikey Corbett and his management team of Alan White, Pa Punch, Ed Skehan, Tom Keogh, Ian Chaplin and Ronan Keane will no doubt be delighted with the peformance with another big game to come next week. Corbett has a large panel at his disposal this year and as can be seen by the calibre of players who didn't see action today along with those unavailable, he is sure to have plenty of headaches selecting his starting team before the year is out.
