The Sixmilebridge U16s travelled to Lixnaw in Co. Kerry on Sunday morning to take on an emerging Kerry County U15 team. A fantastic day for hurling on what can only be described as one of the finest pitches anywhere allowed for a competitive game between the sides.
This game gave a final chance for lads to display their talents before the final weeks of study and the break for exams in June.
The team were driven down by the parents who showed great dedication to drive the distance for a worthwhile challenge.
The game itself was closer than the final score suggested and a good workout was had by both teams on the day. The final score ended Sixmilebridge 0-19 to Kerry 0-07.
All round it was a good team display and there were fine displays on the day from Michael Carey at corner back, Seamus O’ Connell at wingback and Colm Flynn and Colin Kelly who tormented the Kerry backs all day at wing forward.
After the game the team met with current Kerry intercounty sensation and Fitzgibbon cup winning captain with UCC, Shane Conway who’s club is Lixnaw. Shane has some words of encouragement and advice for the lads.
Well done to all who travelled and best of luck in the exams in the coming weeks.
