Whitegate 4-9 v 3-8 Sixmilebridge
Junior B Hurling Championship
Round 4 @ Tulla
Whitegate recorded a four point victory over the 'Bridge in round 4 of the junior championship in Tulla earlier today. The East Clare men were fully deserving of their win over an under par 'Bridge with two injury time goals adding a gloss to the final scoreline. At half time Whitegate were 2-6 to 0-6 ahead having played with the aid of a strong swirling breeze.
The second half saw An Geata Bán get out of traps quick and they outscored the 'Bridge by 2-2 to 1-2 by the end of the first quarter. George Waterstone had both Whitegate goals to ensure his hat trick while Cian Hogan had the 'Bridge major.
Sixmilebridge pilled on the pressure for the final quarter but they got little change from the Whitegate defence before eventually they raided for two goals entering the final stages. Donald Devanney and Charlie Carmody had the 'Bridge goals.
As a result of this win Whitegate top the group and advance to the quarter finals. Meanwhile, the 'Bridge must win their final game against Tubber to keep their hopes alive of advancing to the quarter finals.
