2019 U15 Academy, Championship Rd. 1, Match Report, Smb 5-09 Doora Barefield 8-09

This championship match was played in Gurteen and served up a highly entertaining game with lots of goals for both sides. Indeed the early scoreline read 2-0 to 1-0 at one stage, both sides obvioulsly having been coached in the Eddie Brennan style of goal taking. The 'Bridge team were made up of a number of U14s and shored up by some of the U15s. there was a very strong wind which meant that the full forward lines were in play quite a lot in opposing halves. Despite the wind the half time scoreline had the 'Bridge in front 5-06 to 4-02.

The 'Bridge were looking good for the win for the majority of this game but some late scores for Barefield brought them over the line first. The 'Bridge goals came from Daniel Chaplin, Darren Hurley, Brendan Carey and Alex Muldoon. Jack Holloway, Brendan Carey and Tom Forde were among those who played well on the day. Well doen to the 'Bridge lads who came together relatively recently as a panel as the U15 competition normally doesnt start until September, so with very little done as a group they gave a good account of themselves.
