Our U8 hurlers traveled to the hurling stronghold of north Cork for their own episode of Friday night lights in Newtown Shandrum where we were represented with 4 teams last night. The area is famous for the O'Connor and Mulcahy brothers while the neighboring parish of Dromina which is the home of the famous O'Shaughnessy brothers provides part of the conveyor belt for their underage system. Indeed the Bridge has a close link with Newtown with Niall Sossy McInerney now resident in the area.

Each team played 3 x 15 minute games with the first 5 minutes of each game on the ground and all games were evenly balanced throughout with both sides adapting seamlessly when the lights were turned on during game 2. Following the game our hosts invited us to their clubhouse where we were really well looked after by the parents of the home side. A special visitor on the night was the famous Liam McCarthy cup!

Thanks to all our coaches and parents who made the effort and brought the boys on the night and a big thank you to Newtown/Dromina for inviting us down and for their wonderful hospitality. their squad has had a wonderful season at U8 and we look forward to clashing hurleys again in 2020.

Note: We are missing 2 team photos - those coaches will get pressups and laps next week at training!
