The 3 Bridge adult teams opened their 2016 league campaigns with wins this weekend.
The Intermediate team who are plying their trade in the Senior league defeated Tulla seniors on Thursday night on a score of 1-14 to 2-09. The 2 point win for the home side would have been more comfortable but for conceding 2 late goals to the Claret & Gold.
The Junior As were in action on Good Friday and overcame Ennistymon by 3 points on a score of 0-15 to 1-09. Alan White will be happy with the 2 points as they hope to build on the success of the team in 2015 when they reached the county final.
Meanwhile the Seniors locked horns with neighbors Cratloe today in heavy underfoot conditions in Michael O Heir park in Cratloe. The game was preceded by Amhrain na bhfiann and a minutes silence. Both teams were missing a number of regulars which gave John O Meara and his management team a chance to try out some new players including Christy Griffn, Eanna Burns and Daragh O'Connor. First half goals from Alan Mulready and Alex Morey set the Brisge up for a 2-06 to 0-06 lead. The Bridge kept the score board ticking over in the second half with the elements to their back to run out 2-14 to 0-12 winners.
