You often hear of great coaches saying when they go to war there are certain people they would always want in their trenches - When the Bridge camogies went into battle over the years Bridget O'Halloran as she is known locally in Cappa, or Bee Loughnane as she is known nowadays, was always the warrior the Bridge looked to when trying to get a handle on the oppositions best - the (wo)man marker.
The O'Halloran & Quinn (the Forge) family have had a long association with the Bridge club and community with Bees late dad Seamus giving a life time to volunteering in the club along with her brothers and sisters playing at all levels.
Currently Bee has taken a short break from the Camogie fields and is fighting a different type of battle - For the past 15 months Bee has gone through an extensive amount of treatment, continuous chemo and radiation therapy. However these treatments have had little affect on her prognoses.
Bee moved to a new oncology team in Dublin, who devised another plan for her treatment. She is currently undergoing daily chemo with no break for the past 12 weeks. Bee is always looking into alternative treatments and this all comes at a high cost.
Anyone that has the pleasure of being in Bees company will know that she is the most positive, determined, happy go lucky, stylish and loyal person you could imagine - Her friends have been inundated with offers of how they can help her with her battle so decided to setup a GoFundMe page to allow people to contribute. The response to this fund has been phenomenal to date and shows that Bees 39 years of goodness & generosity is being paid back with interest now.
All funds raised will go towards helping Bee continue her fight, explore all options available to her and take the huge financial cost off her family. More battles lie ahead but there are plenty of us in the trenches with her ready and waiting when needed to help.
