Its been a busy few weeks for the U13 hurlers with both the A and Academy competitions in full swing.
On Friday 17th July, the A team travelled to Clonlara for Round 4 of their championship. A bright start from Clonlara saw them race into a 4 point lead coming up to the first waterbreak. After the restart, a Cian McInerney goal settled the Bridge lads and they then proceeded to take control of the game. Final score SMB 4-12 Clonlara 1-12 with further goals from Cian, Rory Chaplin and Dougie Brew. Other notable displays in this game included goalkeeper Conor Keogh, Luke Deegan and Dylan Keogh.
Next up for the A team was an away game to Doora Barefield on Fri 30th July. Despite a bright opening where they had a couple of good goal opportunties, the lads struggled to impose themselves on the game with Doora Barefield running out comprehensive winners on a scoreline of 8-9 to 2-7.
The Academy team, still searching for their first win, hosted Clonlara on Sat 31st July. Captained by Logan Loughnane, the boys got off to a bright start and owned the ball for the first 15 mins. Unfortunately, they struggled to convert this possession into scores and eventually lost out on a scoreline of 1-02 to 6-05 with Aodan Flannery getting the goal..
The team the travelled to Clarecastle on Saturday 7th August. Happily, on this occasion the lads scoring radar was working with Charlie Keane (2) and Cillian O'Connor scoring the goals in a 3-6 to 0-5 victory. Other notable performances in this game included goalkeeper Cian McInerney, Dougie Brew, Evan Madigan and Tommy Healy.
During the last few weeks the Academy squad also played a challenge match against Wolfe Tones and the full squad got to enjoy the fine weather at a recent training session with ice-creams provided by the club.
