Sixmilebridge 3-15 Corofin 1-06

Our U14A team produced another fantastic performance in the semi-final against Corofin to qualify to meet Clooney/Quin in the County Final on Friday June 3rd.

The first 10mins of the half was hard fought with both defences dominating proceedings which meant the ball was up and down the field without must scores registered. The bridge did have chances for goals with but for the ball hitting the goal up-right on two occasions.  David Kennedy got the first score of the match followed by 2 points from Corofin. At this point the bridge started to get on top at mid-field which resulted in the bridge scoring 1-05 with the goal coming from Evan Murphy and point from David Kennedy (2), Dylan Downes, Luke Keogh and Mathew Hurley. Corofin responded with 2 points but the bridge finished out the half strongly with a goal from Leon Kelly and points from Mathew Hurley and David Kennedy to leave the score-line at half time 2-08 to 0-04 in favour of the bridge.

In the second half Corofin got off the block faster with a point and responded to the challenge with great determination in this half. The bridge had points from David Kennedy and Mathew Hurley followed by a Corofin point. The bridge continued with points from Luke O’Halloran (2) and Mathew Hurley when Corofin struck for a goal after a number of 21 yards frees and a penalty being awarded which were expertly saved by Cian Fawl in the bridge goal. The bridge finished strongly with points from Mathew Hurley and Noel Flynn and a last minute goal from Cian Gleeson.

Overall this was an excellent team performance from the bridge boys with the defence and mid-field   in particular showing great form and discipline.
