Bank Holiday Monday evening saw our U12's get their Cusack and Vaughan League matches off to a flier. On a beautiful evening for Hurling they had comprehensive victories over Scarriff/Ogonelloe in both games and now look forward to the rest of their matches on a weekly basis up until the end of July.
The boys took a leaf or two out of the U14 playbook from recent months with enthusiastic closing down of opposition players and exhibiting numerous examples of frontal blocks. There was also plenty disciplined chasing of players to get in vital hooks and turn over possession to really frustrate the Scarriff/Ogonelloe lads.
Another welcome feature was the willingness to put up the hand to make a catch, resulting in plenty examples of clean catches in both matches - well done to Coaches and Players on working on this aspect of the game and hopefully the instinct to grab the ball cleanly will stay with these lads as they rise through the ranks.
Leaving & Junior Cert
Meanwhile the club would like to wish all our players starting exams today the very best of luck and we look forward to having you back at training later this month when finished.
