The Minor Club hosted one of the largest U8 blitzes of the year with over 130 boys participating in the Cappa-Lodge pitch last Saturday 20th August. The other Clubs who made the trip to the bridge on a wet Saturday morning were Clooney-Quin, Ruan, Crusheen and Ogonnelloe. All in attendance would agree the boys were a credit to their Clubs and well coached on the skills of hurling. The games were played in a carefree and fun manner on small pitches in the GAA Go-Games format, which ensures each boy can play and compete.
Our U8 squad were split into 4 teams and with coaches like Adrian Chaplin, Mike O’Halloran, David O’Connor, Mike Tobin, Richie Flanagan, Damien Keane, Pater Kearney, Noel Flannery and Eoin Gavin to guide these “Stars of the Future”, our Club will continue to thrive.
Thanks to our fellow clubman Sean Chaplin in his role as Clare Games Development Officer for organising these Go-Game competitions.
