Well done to all our Hurlers and Camogie players who won gold medals in the Munster Community Games finals in UL on Saturday. Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry Community games were represented in the following competitionsBoys U15 - GOLDGirls U13 - GOLDGirls U15 - SILVERThe 'Bridge have a proud tradition in Community Games Rounders which was first started by Dolores O'Loughlin in the 1980's when a gang of hurlers who won the All Ireland Hurling the year previously and got a taste for the good life in Mosney wanted a way to get back so picked a sport they were somewhat familiar with which used a Sliotar - i.e: Rounders. That team which included All Ireland Senior Hurling medal winners Davy Fitzgerald and Christy Chaplin cruised through Clare and were beaten in a controversial decision in the Munster Final. This year Kevin Phelan, Corey Phelan and Sinead Hogan have helped maintain the rounders tradition and given our young boys and Girls a chance to play in another official GAA sport.Best of luck to all players and management in the All Ireland Finals on September 24th.U13 Girls - Gold
