The U14 Championship is well under way with the Academy and A squads in action over recent weeks.
Academy v Tulla - 11 Sept
The Academy Championship this year is a straight knockout competition with Tulla hosting Sixmilebridge in the quarterfinal.
Captained by Charlie Keane, a highly contested first half saw Sixmilebridge ahead at half time on a score of 2-6 to 2-3. The boys extended their lead in the second half and had several good goal scoring opportunities to close out the game. Tulla however proved dogged opposition and had a 5 minute purple patch midway through the second half where they scored 3 goals and finished strongly from there to run out 8-6 to 3-10 winners.

Notable contributions in this game came from Ross Kearney, Oisin O'Brien, Conor Fitzpatrick and Liam Sweeney.
Overall this was a disappointing result for the squad and doubly so as there is no Academy Shield competition making this is the only competitive u14 Academy fixture we will have this year.
A v Clarecastle - 17 September
Coming off a good win in their championship opener against Ballyea, the A squad had a tricky second round tie away to a strong Clarecastle side on Saturday morning.
A strong start by Sixmilebridge saw them leading 1-3 to 0-1 after 15 mins. Clarecastle came back into it in the second quarter but squandered several good scoring opportunities with the 'Bridge going in at half time with a 1-6 to 0-3 lead. The second half was a hard fought affair but the game was largely decided when Sixmilebridge hit goal 3 goals in quick succession courtesy of Cian McInerney, Dylan McInerney and Stephen Gavin. Good displays in this game also from Conor Peacock, Rory Chaplin and Cuan McGiollaCearra.
Final Score: Sixmilebridge 4-8 Clarecastle 1-8.
With two wins from two the A team are top of their group and in a good position heading into the final group game v Cratloe on Saturday 1st October.
