On Monday night we welcomed Fergal Lyons to the Arena for a workshop on Fundamental Movement as part of our Coaching the Coaches series.

Close on 40 coaches experienced a very engaging 90 minutes with Fergal who has been a PE teacher for nearly 20 years, teaching and coaching hurling in Ardscoil Ris and St Colman's, Fermoy, County Cork. He was recruited by the department of education to devise a programme called Move Well Move Often in 2015 and worked for 5 years developing Physical Literacy and Fundamental Movement Skills in Irish primary schools. Following that programme he was responsible for rolling out leaving cert PE as an exam subject nationally until this year. He is now back teaching and coaching in Ardscoil Ris since September and was involved in winning the Dean Ryan Munster Hurling title this year.
