On Thursday last (8th June) St. Finnachtas NS hurling team were in action in the semi final of the Cumann na mBunscoil in Cratloe against Clarecastle. Harry Loughnane & Liam Flannery report on the game:
We got off to a great start after scoring an early free, which Clarecastle responded by scoring 1-1. Clarecastle started to get on top but after a few positional changes we scored 3 quick goals which gave us a 3-1 to 1-1 lead going into half time.
At half time Mr. Lynch and Mr. Minogue gave us a good pep talk which gave us the hunger to win going into the second half. We started the second half well by getting a few scores on the board, which Clarecastle once again responded to, but our defence held them off strongly.
A wide range of scorers helped us get more scores on the bored and we started to drift away from the magpies. But once again Clarecastle responded with a goal and a couple of points. But the lead we had was too significant for Clarecastle to catch up on, and a few late scores helped us run out comfortable winners in the end, on a score line of 7-8 to 2-5.
An overall good team performance in this game. Next up is the Division 1 final vs Gaelscoil Inis, this Thursday the 15th, in Cusack Park.
Hope to see you all there. UP THE BRIDGE.
