This has been a very busy week for our U13 Hurlers with the A team playing 2 games in 3 days while both academy teams had matches last Wednesday with many also involved in the Schools semi final wins for Sixmilebridge NS and Clonmoney NS. The last week in U13 games has seen 45 boys playing championship hurling as we continue to build for the future and develop players.

3 Teams - 1 Unit

U13A Team

Having played 3 games in this years championship with a win and 2 loses to our name the boys were fully aware that their season was in their own hands with 2 championship games scheduled for 3 days. On Saturday last they travelled to Cratloe fully determined to get a performance and they duly obliged. The 'Bridge boys hit the ground running from the start and went on to dominate the game from start to finish.

On Monday evening the rescheduled Round 4 game against table toppers Clooney/Quin took place in O'Garney Park. In front of a sizeable crowd with visitors from clubs all around the county the visitors took the lead with an early goal before the 'Bridge boys settled with a couple of points before having a goal disallowed. This disappointment was turned around quickly as they rattled the net again to race into a 2-05 to 1-00 half time lead. Clooney rallied their troops at half time and despite early pressure the Bridge boys worked ferociously hard to gain a well earned win on a score of 3-09 to 2-02.

The boys have 2 games remaining now - Clonlara this week and Eire Og in the final game which they will be determined to win in order to ensure their passage to the knockout stages.

Nothing like an Ice Cream after a tough Championship match in the heat - The boys enjoyed some well earned ice cream at O'Flynns Centra as they relaxed by the river and relived the performances of the last 3 days.

U13 Blues - Academy Group 1

The Bridge Blues travelled to Ogonnolloe last Wednesday to take on Scariff/Ogonnolloe in round 2 of the U13 Academy. Having lost their first round the Bridge boys were determined to put in a performance for the full hour and did just that as they ran out winners on a scoreline of SMB 8-12 Scariff/Ogonolloe 1-07. The boys next round is against Doora Barefield and this game is rescheduled to next Monday 19th June.

U13 Saffrons - Academy Group 2

SMB 4-10 OCMills/Bodyke 7-09

The Bridge Saffrons had a titanic battle with OCMills/Bodyke last Wednesday in Cappa Lodge - the game was very well contested and while the result did not go our way this time the coaches were very impressed with the performance and the score as the boys hit 4-10 with some excellent points throughout the hour. Our next game in this competition is against table toppers Kilmaley away next Sunday.
