Sixmilebridge N.S. versus Crusheen N.S.

Bhí Droichead Abhann Ó gCearnaigh ag imirt i gcoinne Croisín. Is iad Sarah Conlon agus Brooke O’Connell captaen na foirne. Fuair Droichead Abhann Ui gCearnaigh cúilín ar dtús agus bhí Droichead Abhann Uí gCearnaigh chun tosaigh. Sa deireadh, bhuaigh Droichead Abhann Ui gCearnaigh an cluiche. Bhí slua ollmhór ag an gcluiche. Bhí áthas an domhain ar gach duine.

On Friday, 9 th June our school camogie team played Crusheen N.S., in the Cumann na mBunscol Division 2 semi-final, in Sixmilebridge. It was a lovely, dry day for a great camogie match.

Sarah Conlon and Brooke O’Connell were joint captains of the team. Sixmilebridge won the toss and the Bridge were playing up towards the school end for the first half. Sarah Conlon got the first score of the match and Sixmilebridge N.S. were off to a great start.

For the second half, Eimear White came out of goals and Lucy Conroy and Anna Madigan both played part of the second half in goals. A Crusheen player was running towards the goals from the side, and was fouled. A penalty was awarded to Crusheen N.S. The team and supporters were nervous for Anna in goals.

The Crusheen player placed the ball on the ground and struck it very well. Anna was very courageous. The pressure didn’t affect her. She put her body on the line and made an excellent save with her shoulder. The crowd went wild.

The final score was 6-5 to 0-1 to Sixmilebridge N.S. Goals were scored by Lily Flannery, Brooke O’Connell, Sarah Conlon, Aizea Keane and Lucy Conroy. Points were scored by Sarah Conlon, Aizea Keane, Lucy Conroy and Anna Madden.

Our school camogie team are now through to the final, which will take place on Thursday, 15 th June at 2pm in Cusack Park, Ennis.
